AMG Sport Line: Compromising

At this year’s Detroit Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz announced that they will create yet another variation of their products: after splitting its sporty division into a separate brand (Mercedes-AMG) the Affalterbach brand decided to broaden its appeal by launching the AMG Sport version, which will be a compromise between the regular Benzes with the AMG Sport package, and the traditional full-on AMG models. These cars will be AMG products that will have a lot in common with the normal Mercedes-Benz model.

The AMG Sport cars will have engine tweaks, AWD as standard equipment and some suspension and brake parts from the ‘’real’’ AMG. The two first members of this new family will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, and the manufacturer teased us with this picture.

The car on the right is probably a C-Class, but it’s the SUV on the left that interests us: I may be wrong, but it looks like this GLE has a very sloped roof… If that is the case, this could be the long-awaited GLE Coupe that is rumored to be set to compete against the BMW X6…

We will have to wait for the Detroit Show Show to find out more about it.

NewsThat Didn't Last Long: The End Of AMG Sport
A few short months after Mercedes-Benz announced the creation of AMG Sport (a sub-brand that was about halfway between a "regular" Mercedes and a full-blown AMG performance car), the manufacturer went back on its decision and decided to axe it. GenevaThe People's AMG: Here is the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C 43
Throughout the years, AMG's lineup grew considerably. However, it also became more and more complicated. The AMG Sport sub-brand made things even harder to decipher: if we were to show you a C 450 AMG Sport, could you tell us it if it's a base-model AMG or a gussied-up Mercedes-Benz?
