A Mazda2 Sedan For Thailand

Just before the start of the Thailand Auto Show, Mazda unveiled a sedan version of its next-generation Mazda2.

The small Mazda2 has been a resounding success ever since it was launched: Japan declared it Car of the Year in 2014-2015, and it sells well all over the world. For 2016, it will be modernized, and the hatchback version has already been confirmed for our market.

However, Mazda just unveiled the sedan version which will be shown in Thailand, where the car is especially popular. The Mazda2 is the manufacturer’s best-seller there, with more than 120,000 sold since its launch in 2010.

Other than the change of body style, the Mazda2 stays the same: a 1.5 litre Skyactiv engine is standard, and the bodywork is inspired by the Kodo design language.

For now, this car will only be sold in Thailand. However, Mazda could benefit from selling it here, since the American market usually prefers sedans to hatchbacks.
