New Numbers For The Challenger Hellcat

The orgy of staggering numbers associated with the Dodge Challenger Hellcat is not over yet: after having been stumped by the monster’s power, we now hear that it may theoretically be even more powerful… and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) just published its fuel economy ratings.

First of all, an anonymous source working with one of Chrysler’s suppliers says that the 6.2L Hemi could produce around 825 horsepower, but was limited to ‘’only’’ 707 to increase the block’s (and its owner’s) lifespan. This source also states that the Hellcat had troubles meeting the environmental norms.

And speaking of the environment, we now know just how bad the Challenger Hellcat will be for our country’s flora: according to the agency that validates the fuel consumption of all cars sold in the US, Dodge’s big coupe can achieve 10.7L/100 km on the highway if you keep the cruise control under the speed limit. And keep in mind that this is with the 8-speed automatic gearbox. The manual can’t do better than 11.2L/100 km. When navigating the city, a driver with a particularly light right foot can theoretically see 18.1L/100 km, regardless of their transmission choice.

As a comparison, Chrysler reminds us that the Hellcat is more economical than the Lamborghini Aventador, Aston Martin Vanquish and Mercedes-AMG GT, while still being more powerful than any of them.
