Power Bump For The 2015 Ram HD

We know that manufacturers don't play around when it comes to big trucks. If they can claim that their rig has a few horsepower or pound-feet of torque more than its competitors, they won't hesitate to mention it. And if all this power results in an increase in towing capacity, chances are you will hear about it everywhere.

Ford had been leading the power war with the F-250. Its diesel engine generates an impressive 860 pound-feet of torque, but we were waiting for one its competitors to strike back. For 2015, Ram increased the fuel and turbo pressure for its 6.7 L Cummins engine, gaining an extra 15 pound-feet of torque. This brings the total to... 865. It might not win by a huge margin, but the Ram is now officially the most powerful pickup truck on sale today.

Ram is also the only manufacturer to calculate its towing rating using the new, proven method, so when they say 13,600 kilos, we are inclined to believe them.

So until Ford or GM finds a few extra horses hiding in their engines, the Ram will hold onto its crown.
