A RWD Lamborghini Huracán

A very special Lamborghini was unveiled among all the shiny pre-war cars at Pebble Beach. With its matte black paint, fighter jet-inspired lines and gigantic rear wing, the Huracán Super Trofeo really stood apart!

The Huracán Super Trofeo is obviously built for the track. It will replace the aging Gallardo Super Trofeo in the series that bears its name and is sponsored by the watchmaker Blancpain. The Huracán will actually battle against its ancestor in the 2015 season.

The car was designed in partnership with Dallara, which handled the aerodynamics and composite materials used in the bodywork.

The engine is the same V10 used in the base-model Huracán, but Lamborghini’s engineers managed to squeeze an extra 2 horses out of it, for a total of 620. It is also lighter, with a dry weight of 1,270 kilos.

The biggest difference between this racecar and the Gallardo Super Trofeo is in the drivetrain. While the older car used an AWD system, the Huracán will send its power to the rear wheels only.

There were whispers around the car at Pebble Beach that a road-going version of the rear wheel drive Huracán could be launched in the coming years. This would not be a first, since the Gallardo had a RWD Valentino Balboni edition added to its lineup before the end of the model.
