A Valet Mode To Protect Your 2015 Chevrolet Corvette
If you own a rare, powerful or expensive car, leaving your keys to a valet service can be an extremely stressful experience. Letting a perfect stranger (or even worse, a young man just out of puberty) drive your vehicle can be disastrous. Who knows what he will get up to? He may abuse the transmission, roast the rear tires, steal stuff out of the glove box or even go for a little joyride while you are eating at the restaurant…
Chevrolet unveiled their version of the Valet mode, a system already used on many high-end vehicles. It has a few different functionalities to give you peace of mind:

First of all, you can engage Valet Mode via the infotainment system. You enter a unique 4-digit PIN number, which deactivates the performance modes, locks the glove box and the center console, and shuts off the radio.
Then, the data logging system unveiled last year is also used. The front camera starts recording, and stays on as long as the engine is running. You can then view the video when you come back, and see exactly where your Corvette went!
The telemetry is also recorded. This way, you can see the speed of the vehicle, engine RPM, selected gear and even hear everything that went on in your car!
The Valet Mode is a welcome addition to the Corvette, allowing you to enjoy your dinner at that fancy restaurant. And who knows, the young valet who knows that his driving antics behind the wheel of your car will be recorded will probably think twice before showing off his drifting skills!
