A Toyota Tundra Will Race In The Baja 1000

For a manufacturer, racing is the best benchmark to prove their vehicles. It allows them to push their engineering far further than they could on the street, and it offers them a chance to prove themselves against the competition.

Toyota has chosen to prove the strength of their Tundra TRD Pro by entering it in the Baja 1000, one of the world's most hardcore races. Now entering its 47th edition, it covers 1600 km across the desert.

The Tundra will race in Full Size Stock, meaning that most of its components are the same as the truck you can drive off the dealership. However, it is equipped with a few upgrades: Hella auxiliary lights, a rollcage, better brakes, 37 inch tires, various navigation and communication equipment, a cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust.

Driving the off-roader will be veterans of the endurance race: Ted Moncure, Andy Bell, Jamie Bestwick and Ryan Millen (son of Rod Millen, legendary off-road driver).

We will be able to see the Toyota on November 12 at the starting line of the Baja 1000.
