You Can Now Order Your 2015 F-150

The first 2015 Ford F-150s should arrive in dealerships before the end of the year, which means that salesmen can now order these new trucks. Even better, it means that we now know how much they cost!

Since the new pickup will use quite a bit of aluminium in its construction, people speculated that it would be more expensive to produce, and that this would result in a price hike for the consumer.

The most popular versions of the F-150, the XL and XLT, will be a little more expensive that the outgoing models. Therefore, the XL will start at $21,399, and the XLT at $32,399. Since these two account for about 70% of all the F-150s sold each year, it was important that they remained affordable. According to the manufacturer, the modest increase in price is due to additional equipment, not because of the aluminium.

Looking at the more expensive versions, this seems logical: the more luxurious they are, the more the price hike is. The F-150 Lariat is $1600 more than the 2014 version, for a total of $48,099. The King Ranch is offered for $64,999, a $3400 premium over the last one. The Platinum can be yours for $66,999, meaning that you will pay $4800 more than if you chose a current-gen Ford.

The next step will be to see the fuel consumption numbers, since the use of aluminium gave the 2015 Ford F-150 a 317 kilo diet!
