Dodge Challenger Hellcat: Quickest Muscle Car in the Quarter Mile

Ford and Chevy enthusiasts are still picking their jaws off the floor after hearing the announcement of the Hellcat's horsepower. And now, they come up with silly excuses, like:

''Yeah it might have 707 HP, but it is still a fat car! My 1993 Mustang with no backseats will easily crush it!''

These people should probably know that for a true muscle car, weight doesn't matter. In fact, only two things matter: horsepower and quarter mile times. The Hellcat just completed its first quarter mile, and the results are in: 10.8 seconds on drag radials, and 11.2 seconds with the factory tires. These times are NHRA-approved.

Dodge now officially sells the fastest muscle car ever created, since the closest competition from Ford, the Shelby GT500, runs the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds, and the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has to make-do with 12.1 seconds. It is important to note that the other sport car from Dodge, the Viper, is a little slower to 400 metres, with an 11.7 second time.

We can't wait to see what the competition will come up with to beat this mighty Mopar, and we wish them luck!
