Land Rover Will Travel Down Familiar Paths

25 years ago, Land Rover rolled out their 1990 Range Rover. While the manufacturer was widely known overseas, it was a newcomer in the United States, and it had to prove its worth in a country dominated by Jeeps. Their solution was grand: a 1,700 kilometer trip from Wyoming to New-Mexico following the Rockies. This trip was dubbed The Great Divide Expedition.

To celebrate the anniversary of this expedition, Land Rover will re-attempt the trip with a small selection of lucky individuals. They will use the same vehicles as last time, albeit modern, 2014 Range Rovers. The trip should be much more comfortable than it was in 1989! Just like the first trip, these will be largely unmodified production vehicles.

Land Rover will also auction off a 1990 Land Rover identical to the ones used in the Great Divide Expedition. Profits will go to the Tread Lightly! Foundation, an organization that aims to improve off-roading practices to help preserve environment. The foundation was part of the 1989 trip.

If you want to go on this historic expedition, Land Rover plans on selling a few tickets for a spot in one of the vehicles to their customers and partners. So if you know someone who knows someone at Land Rover, you might find a way to be part of the ride!
