The Next Prius Will be Delayed

Toyota just announced that the next generation of their best-selling hybrid, the Prius, will be delayed by about half a year. While production was supposed to begin sometime during the spring, it is possible that the factories may only start building the cars in December 2015.

Toyota sure is taking their time with the next Prius. They are obviously taking more time to make it more efficient, spending many hours working on body panel fitment and tweaking the aerodynamics. For now, the Prius stands at a relatively impressive 38.5% energy efficiency (the best vehicle in the Toyota lineup). With the next-generation, the manufacturer hopes to bring his number over 40%. This would give the hybrid car a very low fuel consumption, especially compared to its competition...

As for the plug-in hybrid version, it will enter production somewhere around October 2017.
