Black Beauty is Being Auctioned

When the Green Hornet movie came out, a lot of people (myself included) went to see it just because of the poster, without knowing that the characters came out of a 1940’s comic book. If the movie was not a resounding success, the real star of the show was engraved in my mind. Forget Seth Rogen, the lead actor was Black Beauty, a 1965 Chrysler Imperial. And now, this awesome crime-fighting machine can be yours!

The car is offered for sale by RR Auctions, in Massachusetts. 29 of these Chryslers were built for the production, but only 2 remains, the other one being a stock Imperial.

The modifications are numerous and unusual. If the lowered suspension, black window tint and big rims are pretty standard modifications, the rest is not: 12 Stinger missiles in the front and rear bumpers, a flamethrower, two .30 caliber machine guns and retractable spikes in the wheel hubs! The car is fully armored, and the automatic rifles mounted on the hood can be fed propane from a tank in the trunk to shoot real flames!

Under all this is a pretty clean Chrysler Imperial, with a 413 cubic inch V8, black leather interior and 115,000 km on the clock. The auction has already begun and so far bids have climbed up to $12,100 US.
