Volkswagen Presents a Sportwagen Concept in New York

Volkswagen just updated its Golf/Jetta platform. Before the refresh a wagon version called the Golf Sportwagen (formerly known as the Jetta Sportwagen) was available alongside the traditional hatchbacks and sedans. It was well-loved in Quebec for its huge storage space and reasonable fuel consumption. And for the few select individuals who wanted a very fuel-efficient version, it was possible to order one with a diesel engine.

Now, it would seem that VW is set to show a Sportwagen Concept in New York. However, if the manufacturer calls it a Concept, I call it a production-ready model. It is a Sportwagen with a diesel engine and the 4MOTION system. This AWD system will certainly make it even more popular here, in a country where snow is a big part of our lives. Plus, it will now be possible to buy a diesel, manual, AWD station wagon. This sounds like the perfect commute vehicle to me.
