Maserati Return to its Roots With the Alfieri Concept

Maserati had a problem when they decided to celebrate their 100th birthday: they had to not only remind people of its rich history, but also that they were still relevant in today’s market. In the last few years, they invested in their Quattroporte and Ghibli sport sedans, leaving the GT market behind. With the Alfieri Concept, Maserati reminds everyone that they started as sportcars builders, and that they intend to stay in this market.

Based on the architecture of the Maserati Granturismo, the Alfieri Concept was created to be 100% functional. The engine is a 4.7 liter V8 sourced from Ferrari, and the power it generates is sent to a 6-speed transmission located on the rear axle.

For the styling, the Alfieri was created by a team of young designers from Turin. They had a complex list of objectives: create something inspired by old legends, like the 3500 GT, the 5000 GT and the A6 GCS-53, while developing a style that is modern and breathtaking.

Maserati says that even if the Alfieri doesn't have much chance of becoming a production model, the brand’s future models will be heavily inspired by it.
