Nissan NV200: The Taxi of the Future?

Produced by Nissan in Cuernavaca, Mexico, the Taxi of Tomorrow is in action since last November. Developed on the NV200 compact cargo platform using input from cab drivers and operators the vehicle meets the specific demands of New York City taxicabs.

The interior provides ample room for four passengers and their luggage. Customer-oriented features include active carbon-lined headliner, to help neutralize interior odors, independently controlled rear air conditioning, floor lighting and a mobile charging station with two USB ports.

Powered by a 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine the taxi features a CVT transmission and a cool low-annoyance horn with exterior lights indicating when the vehicle is honking.

Safety features include front and rear-seat occupant curtain airbags, seat-mounted airbags for the front row and sliding door alerter lights indicating the taxi doors are opening.
