2015 Chevy Colorado Unveiled to the World in Los Angeles

Chevrolet unveiled to the world its new Colorado mid-size pickup truck at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The truck will compete with the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma. The Ford Ranger and Dodge Dakota were dropped in 2011 and are no longer on the market.

The 2015 Colorado will be available in three configurations: an extended cab plus a six-foot bed, a crew cab plus a five-foot bed or a crew cab plus six-foot bed. GM North American President described the Colorado as "a truck that will really shake up the segment and leave the competition in the dust far behind."

At launch, the pickup will have a choice of four- and six-cylinder engines. The base 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder are from the Malibu and Impala models and will have 193 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Buyers can opt for a more powerful 3.6-litre V-6 found in the Cadillac ATS and CTS for 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. There is also a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel that will arrive in 2016.

Interior features will include an optional touchscreen interface, iPod outlets, USB and Bluetooth connectivity.

The truck will go on sale in the fall of 2014.
