Datsun Go Breaks Cover

The very first details concerning the debut Datsun model - Nissan's revived nameplate that will serve as the brand's global price leader - surfaced this week.  The Datsun Go will be offered in a number of emerging markets, including Southeast Asia, Russia, and South Africa, for a very small amount of money, and the subcompact hatchback is saving parent company Nissan some development dollars by being based on the same platform that is used for the Nissan Micra subcompact.

The Datsun Go is motivated by a three-cylinder engine that displaces 1.2-liters, and it will likely produce under 100 horsepower.  A five-speed manual transmission handles the gear shifting duties for the tiny Go, and options and equipment will be limited to help further drive the car's cost down.  It is very unlikely that the Datsun brand will make it to the Canadian market in any way, shape, or form.
