2014 Toyota Tundra Debuts At Chicago Auto Show

Toyota has introduced the redesigned 2014 Toyota Tundra at the Chicago Auto Show, giving full-size truck buyers a mix of the old and the new that it hopes will be appealing enough to fight off the wave of revised models from the likes of its domestic rivals.  The new Toyota Tundra brings with it revised styling that is both more butch and also more homogenous when compared to the competition, as well as a fresh take on its various trim levels that aims to differentiate each respective edition of the truck from the other with unique features and equipment.  The interior has also been given a thorough once-over.

Under the hood, however, the 2014 Toyota Tundra remains the same, with a 4.0-liter V-6, a 4.6-liter V-8 and a 381 horsepower, 5.7-liter V-8 all available and all identical to last year’s drivetrain choices.  Five and six-speed automatic transmissions are the order of the day for the Tundra, and four-wheel drive is of course also available.  Toyota’s decision to stand pat in the engine department – no matter how good 2012’s offerings were – could be a mistake in the fast-moving pickup segment.
